The dam was completed in 1957 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and resulted in the formation of Lake Seminole, a 59 square mile reservoir. \n\nThe Jim Woodruff Dam is constructed of earthen embankments and concrete, with a gated spillway, overflow dike, lock, weir spillway, gated spillway, and powerhouse.
