The dam and reservoir were completed in the 1930s and were originally used predominately as storage for CF&I Steel. Today, Lake Isabel, located in the San Isabel National Forest, provides fishing, hiking, and camping. The reservoir and recreation facilities are overseen by the Pike and San Isabel Forest Service (Service). ",
